Prompt Response: Over the past week, we have learned about a lot and realized that this course needs me to be in a certain mindset. Even though I'm still getting into it, this mindset helps me focus on the deeper parts of the texts we read and helps me understand the components of the Native American literature that we have gone over. I feel that a strength that I have is that I can keep up with the workload. A weakness that I have is rusking my work and not giving my best effort.

Summary: In class, we took a test on the components and typical story elements of an origin myth, and then we worked on and revised our own origin myths.

Reflection: Taking the test today helped my solidify some of the concepts that we've talked about in elation to Native American origin myths.

In Emily Dickinson’s “I Felt a Funeral, in My Brain,” the speaker experiences a mind that seems to work against her. Sometimes our own thoughts can make a situation feel worse than it actually is. Describe a time when overthinking, worrying, or doubting yourself affected the way you handled a situation. What did you learn from the experience?

Prompt Response: In theatre, I am running lights for one of our fall shows this year (A Few Good Men), and on the days where I am doing lights by myself, I am often worried that the choices I make aren't even close to what our director wants. This overthinking and needless worrying slowed the process of finding the best lighting for the show. Our director, Ms. Bridges, assured me that I was doing great, and that the choices that I made were perfect. Summary: Today, we read Emily Dickinson and really thought about the meaning behind what she says in her poetry. Reflection: Reading and analyzing Dickinson's work helps me better understand how to write complex feelings in a way that is well interpreted, and it also helped me grow my knowledge on poetry in general, as it is not my area of expertise.

Write about a fear you have overcome.

Prompt Response: A fear that I have overcome is my fear of meeting new people. When I first joined theatre last year, I was only on the props team. During that show and rehearsal process, I barely talked to anyone else but Gabby (my team lead). Many of the other cast and crew, such as Caleb and Goose, the lead and light crew, scared me and I had a difficult time trying to have conversations with them. This year, however, I have come into myself a bit more, and I think that has helped me with making friends in this year's Fall Show.
